I also got worked up writing about such issues as free expression , the hijacking of pop culture for partisan political purposes , and the war on film critics , all of which are, of course, linked. So while I want to thank all the writers, editors, photo mavens, tech wizards, interns, and celebrity guest bloggers who helped put together PopWatch in , I especially want to thankyou, the readers, for your lively, intelligent, and civil commentary.

By Larry Eder on July 28, 3: While I applaud the catching of cheats, I believe the issue is a cultural one. We live in a global culture where we celebrate people for merely being obnoxious on terrestrial television, or for having the intellectual quotient of a small soap dish stole that from National Lampoon Radio hour , or worse of all, valuing people because of the size of their pocket books. We have a world with very difficult problems, we need to celebrate people who are not afraid to use their brains, their hearts and their souls for the betterment of us all.

That is, dear friends, is one of the key themes of the Olympic movement. In modern society, the Olympics are an anomaly. To make a successful Olympics a country has to go nearly into hock look at Montreal in , Athens in to support 18 days that cost several billion dollars. The organizers have to worship at the altar of advertising and marketing. The truth is, that the most successful advertising in Olympic broadcasts celebrates the athlete, the notion that the battle fought is key, that whether one wins or loses, the honor comes in the challenges battled.

Advertisers gain from supporting the Olympics. It is also why Rule 40, while well meaning, in that it is meant to protect Olympic sponsors from guerilla marketing, I find it, to say the least, over the top. Rogge gets the mystique and culture surrounding the Olympics.

It is an opportunity for us to reflect on the language and ideas that represented each year. So, take a stroll down memory lane to remember all of our past Word of the Year selections. Change It wasn’t trendy , funny, nor was it coined on Twitter , but we thought change told a real story about how our users defined Unlike in , change was no longer a campaign slogan. But, the term still held a lot of weight. Here’s an excerpt from our Word of the Year announcement in The national debate can arguably be summarized by the question: In the past two years, has there been enough change?

Has there been too much? Meanwhile, many Americans continue to face change in their homes, bank accounts and jobs. Only time will tell if the latest wave of change Americans voted for in the midterm elections will result in a negative or positive outcome. Reading the book was truly a pleasure and my boyfriend would happily vouch for that. The story begins with writer Audrey Buchanan lacking inspiration in her writing until one night she is hit on by dating and sex expert, Chase Walker. After their brief encounter, Audrey begins a quest to score an interview with Chase, but is surprised when she scores a date instead of an interview.

Chase quickly seduces Audrey into his world and together they explore an unforgettable sexual love affair. The premise of Dating Chase Walker may sound familiar, but it offers far more pleasure without all the pain. Seriously, how realistic is that? Even though Audrey is not as experienced as Chase sexually, she maintains a role that inspired me to wake my boyfriend up in the middle of the night for a little bumping and grinding. I read it in just two days, but it is a novella, which is written to be a quick read.

The ending was a bit of a shocker, but that is what makes me want to read the next book in the series. Where is Jillian Conley going to take these characters from where they ended in book one? Dating Chase Walker hits shelves May 30th, but you can order now on www.
